As a result of the Proclamation of the Education Act 1999 a School Council was Formed.

The Bridgetown High School, School Council comprises three parent one community representative, two staff representatives and the principal. It operates in accordance with the School Education Act 1999 to undertake the following roles:

* Establishing and reviewing the school's objectives, priorities and general policy directions
* The planning of financial arrangements to fund those objectives, priorities and general policy directions
* Evaluating the school's performance in achieving them
* Promoting the school in the community
* Formulating and reviewing codes of conduct for students
* Helping to determine a dress code
* Approving school personal use items
* Approving school voluntary contributions and charges
* Agreeing to any sponsorship deals

The School Council usually meets five or six times during the year and parent representatives report to the Parents & Citizens Association and teacher representatives report back to the staff.
