At Bridgetown High School, your child’s interests are at the centre of everything we do.

There are two key concepts that underpin the way in which this school approaches learning and its commitment to improving student outcomes.

Concept One - 'Seek the Best'.

All of us aim to seek the best in and from ourselves and in and from others. We look for the best in people and work to help others achieve the best that they can. Staff members attempt to continually seek the best in themselves in terms of attitudes, relationships, and standards. Staff members also seek the best in their students. Your child will be taught that we all have a responsibility to seek the best in ourselves and in others.

Concept Two - 'Respect'.

We respect each other - regardless of religion, ethnic background, political beliefs, disability, socio-economic status, state of mind, or sexual orientation. Showing respect to others means that the way we treat students models the way we wish them to treat each other and the staff. We teach the students how to respect others. We teach them to examine the effects of their actions on others. Schools function best when people think of the effect of their actions on others before they act. Students are taught that respecting the rights of others is a key socialising skill.

The commitment to improve student outcomes is embodied, in part, in the school's Common Principles, in its middle-school philosophy, close staff-student relationships, and the teachers' highly professional approach to learning and teaching.

The school's ethos, philosophy, culture, and processes are the culmination of many factors and have been developed collaboratively over time.

Learning is strongly emphasised and there are high expectations that your child will use his or her mind well, will achieve to the best of his or her ability, and will strive for personal excellence.

Learning how to learn is valued. Your son or daughter will be encouraged to become analytical, critical, and creative.

Your child will be encouraged to become an active citizen and leader within the school community and to take responsibility for learning outcomes, behaviour, and positive interaction with others.

Teachers at Bridgetown High School are responsible for ensuring that they work with you to get the best possible results from your child. Teachers are responsible for informing you of the progress your child is making. You should feel comfortable and confident about contacting your child’s teachers if you have any concerns.

Everyone at Bridgetown High School has the right to learn and a responsibility to value the learning and humanity of others.
